Sugal MB II + s was designed by master artisan and mouthpiece model maker Gary Sugal for saxophonists who play contemporary jazz, Rock “n” Roll, as well as players aspiring to achieve the great sound of Michael Brecker

The qualities of MB II + s   include a fat, thick, kind of wet, soulful sound, with outstanding harmonics, controlled power with lots of edge, focus projection, and ease of play.

The MB II + s has spontaneous articulation resonates without lag and demonstrates exceptional evenness flow into every register of the horn .

Some of the attributes of the MB II + s include parallel slightly thicker rails, refined mini–tracks, and a machined raised roll-over snow-hill styled baffle.

Sugal’s famous compound radius inside the baffle along with the exclusive bullet chamber enables air to flow evenly into a medium sized chamber. All of these attributes allow for outstanding resonance, ease of play, and complete control of every note in all registers of the horn.

The MB II + s mouthpiece now includes laser trimmed side tip rails and a laser treated body, making this model  , free blowing, powerful, with a centered sound.  

The  MB II + s is plated with Sugal’s proprietary hygienically-safe 18 kt. Heavy Gold Electroplate finish. Manufactured in Rhode Island on a in house hi-tech four axis CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machining center. This model is Sugal’s  original pure copper gold plated version that was designed  to emulate Michael Breckers sound of the 90's.

The  MB II + s is an upgrade from the MB II (we added the bullet chamber) and is the pro’s pro choice mouthpiece. It includes all of the older attributes with added laser treatment for a more focused powerful sound with projection, edge, and ease of play.

The mouthpiece is meticulously hand finished and play tested for superior quality by Gary Sugal, prior to leaving the factory.

The MB II + s is comfortable in the mouth and designed aerodynamically embrace the contour of the embouchure.  

Produced from virgin grain pure copper bar stock this material helps the player to attain a  genuine warm tenor sound while at the same time be bright with controllable, allowing for projection, edge, and ease of play found in no other mouthpiece.

The refined parallel “min-tracks” allows the pure copper metal body “to breathe” resonate warm harmonics without ever sounding “gritty” “nasal” or “kazooish”.

Side and tip rails as well as the body are evenly laser treated.

Easily controllable in every register of the horn.

Every mouthpiece prior to delivery is thoroughly play tested by Gary Sugal and includes Sugal’s famous built on sliding ligature newly designed slide-on cap

Response throughout the full range of the horn from low Bb to as high as you can go into the altissimo-it  is all even.

Due to the design of the built on ligature and uniquely -styled cap the mouthpiece is genuinely “reed friendly” to all popular brands of reeds.
