Designed by master artisan and mouthpiece model maker Gary Sugal, the MB III +s (hematite and silver finish) emulates the great sound and nuances of the Brecker era. Utilizing the latest in-house CNC machining center and advanced cad/cam designing software, Sugal Mouthpieces has successfully re-created the brilliant powerful Breckerish-Lenny Picket sound.

The MB III + s (hematite and silver finish) have a huge bright, fat, cutting sound along with an amazing edge that some folks say will peel wall paper. 

Gary Sugal has pushed the envelope further than any other mouthpiece manufacturer with this design. Incorporating many of his time-tested proven innovations, the Sugal MB III + s captures those very special nuances difficult to attain from the average mass produced mouthpieces offered by other mouthpiece manufacturers.

Simply stated, the design of the mouthpiece aids in the performance of achieving a beefier, wet, soulful, resonating sound.

Both the MB III + s (hematite and silver finish) has a medium size chamber with tremendous projection, edge and plays even throughout the full range of the horn.

All of Sugal mouthpieces are produced from virgin grain pure copper bar stock, allowing for a warmer more focused sound that eliminates harsh nasal overtones.

MB III + s finished in BLACK HEMATITE is slightly darker than the MB III +s  that is finished in a sterling silver finish. It still  has a huge center and offers tremendous projection

Embracing the embouchure the MB III +s is comfortable in the mouth and a delight to work with during those long practice sessions.  

Side and tip rails as well as the body are evenly laser treated. The table is laser swept –sharp and crisp, so your reed responds to those critical measurements Sugal incorporates into every facing of his mouthpiece.

All of Sugal’s models feature parallel re-fined “min-tracks” that can be found under the bite plate and inside the chamber. 

The copper body allows the metal “to breathe” resonate warm without getting  “gritty” “nasal” or “kazooish sounding.

Tip rails and body are meticulously hand finished by former jeweler and master mouthpiece model maker Gary Sugal.

Articulation is easy to control,  there is no lag.

Response throughout the full range from the lowest Bb to the very top of the horn is even, no thinning out as you accelerate into the altissimo register.

Due to the design of the built on ligature and a new cap the mouthpiece is genuinely “reed friendly”. The mouthpiece is ready to play when you are even when left alone for a few days.

Simply leave the ligature on the reed /mouthpiece and in a few days it is  ready to play. No need to soak your reeds in jars of water.

The proprietary black hematite finish is insanely durable hygienically safe and insures that the mouthpiece will last for decades .

Produced from pure virgin grain copper bar stock material that assists the player to attain a  genuine warm full bodied “rounded” sound while at the same time can be bright, and have lots of edge with controllable projection.
