Fine quality Grenadilla wood otherwise known as Mpingo black wood is extremely rare and sought after by some of the top recording artists around the world for its outstanding tonal qualities.

The fact remains there are no other “exotic” woods that have superior dynamic musical qualities than Grenadilla wood.

Cocobolo Rosewood and other types of "exotic" wood tend to crack more frequently than Grenadilla wood. They are porous, and absorb moisture, causing critical table measurements to become unstable. Instability causes intonation and tunning problems. These problems for beginners, intermediate and advanced players instantly become problematic.

Comparing Grenadilla wood mouthpieces to other types of wood is easy to understand as Grenadilla wood is after treating it "food safe" oils becomes virtually crack-free.
